A coworker of my husband shared with him a couple of days ago that he and his wife are expecting their fifth child. They are both 40 years old. The wife has decided because of her age and the fact that she has some medical problems that she doesn't want to carry this baby. She is scheduled for an abortion next Tuesday. When my husband told them we would take the baby, his response was "she could never give her child to someone else." ???????
The husband has bought into the whole,"it's her body, it's her choice" lie and feels he has no say. My husband is getting the impression that he is not 100% on board with her decision.

I received a call today from Malayna, a good friend of many of ours, and she asked for a prayer request for two young woman who attend her church in Platte City. Early this morning there was an accident on I-29 and Tiffany Springs Rd. that killed a young girl, only 22 years old, named Abby Cockrill. Abby and her friend Megan, who had been out with their boyfriends at Zona Rosa, were heading home and were rear ended by a drunk driver. Malayna explained that Abby was the church's new youth leader and Megan is her boss' daughter from the Chamber of Commerce. Please pray for Abby's family, she is the oldest of three girls in her family, and please pray for Megan and her family. Malayna says that Megan feels responsible for Abby since she was the one who was driving even though the police and everyone has told her that there was nothing that she could have done since the drunk driver hit them so hard and from the back. Please pray that Megan will believe that this was not her fault and please pray that Abby's family will find peace knowing that their daughter was a Christian.

Please continue to pray for Christie Anliker who lives in Columbia, Missouri. Her operation of last Friday is believed to have gone well.

She will probably come home today. Her scar goes from her left ear across the top of her head to the other side. She is swollen around the left eye and the left side of her head around the ear. They used titanium clips inside the scalp to hold the skull together since the skull will not grow back together due to a lack of blood in it. The hole was actually in the dura which is the outermost membrane surrounding the brain. It had a 1.5 mm hole that they sealed with membrane from her skull and some glue. She says the headaches from the leaking spinal fluid is gone. She now has the pain associated with the cutting of the skull and the 100+ stitches.

Mike writes: Marty is hanging on. She seems to be going down hill fast and it's hard for me to accept. We have been together for 53 years and I can't even think of a day without her. I actually love her more everyday. I didn't think it possible but I do.
She wants to live so much. Just now her Grandchildren are of an age that she really enjoys being with them and she wants to do things old people do. She is terribly confined do to the small amount of oxygen we can take with us. Two tanks will last 3 or 4 hours. Sometimes we go through that much taking her to the doctors. It's a 30 min trip to and then home, plus we usually have a 30 min to 60 min wait and her time with the nurses and doctor and our 3 hours are up.
She usually starts out OK but by time diner is over she is exhausted. She is having great difficulty in breathing now even with 10 liters of oxygen per minute. Yesterday she was on 13 liters per min all day and she still complained she couldn't get her breath.
It's so damn hard watching the love of my life fade away. Sometimes I know I'm depressed but I work hard at not being so. I have to stay strong and productive for her.
I still have my faith Norm. No matter what I see or what the Doctors say I know God is almighty and can heal her anytime he wants to and if He does not then it is His well that she goes to Heaven first. One of has to be first so I guess it's all up to Him.

Michele requests: I would like to request prayers for Jim. Jim is the brother of a fellow co-worker, Kathy. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over three years ago. At that time, he was told that he only had a short time to live as his cancer was in its advance stages. Over the past three years, he has had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment and defied all medical odds by living. Unfortunately, he has taken a turn for the worst and has been given less than a month to live. Please pray for Jim and his family during this challenging time. Jennie is under evil attack from all fronts: (1) her spouse may lose his job; (2) her own son is on parole and have learning problems; (3) her step sons are using drugs; (4) her step son and daughter and their children who live with her house are depending on her and her spouse; (5) she and her spouse drink to coupe with these problems; and (6) a close male friend who knows about her situation is enticing/entrapping her to have a close relationship and commit adultery. Jennie has been contacting her true friends, asking and listening to counsel regarding all these issues, controlling her drinking habit, dealing with the children problems, requesting prayers for her and her family, she is also praying too. Now her Maritza, her supervisor (a Christian) who knows her situation wants to terminate her job and gave her a week to get a job. Maritza behavior toward Jennie is against Gods word and principle. Because Jennie is a hard worker who always accomplish her job and tries to satisfy Maritza needs. If Maritza or her supervisor does not changer their mind, Jennie and her spouse will lose their house and the whole family may become homeless.

Pray for Beverly - Update

Unfortunately, I had a tongue biopsy almost two weeks ago, and it was confirmed that I have a squamous cell cancer (about 3 centimeters) on my tongue and surgery is necessary within the next few weeks. I just returned home from a meeting with about 10 physicians and therapists at the Cancer Center in Christiana, Delaware.

The good news is that my catscan was good, and there is no indication at this point that the cancer has spread. It seems to be confined to the rear left side of my tongue. Everyone was in agreement that the best plan of attack is to remove the cancerous portion of my tongue which will cause some speech problems, but a speech therapist will be working with me on my speech and swallowing. They will have to remove a few lymphnodes in the neck area, and if no cancer cells are found, I won't even have to have radiation or chemotherapy. This cancer is 80% curable.

I have been having pain in this area for 5-6 months. I had gone to Dr. Cooper, an Ear Nose & Throat specialist, last Novemeber when the pain starting radiating into my ear. He gave me a very brief examination (didn't even look at my tongue) and said he couldn't see anything.. He felt it was a virus that was going around which caused mouth ulcers and I was at the end stages of the virus. Thank goodness, I asked someone at the dental clinic last month (while I was waiting for Vince to get a filling) to take a look in my mouth and tell me what was hurting.. I could tell then that it was serious, but I was given an ointment to try first to see if it helped. I went back two weeks later and was told I had to have a biopsy. I postponed the biopsy until after my trip to Disney. When I went back for my post-op check, I was given the news and things have progressed rapidly since then.

I am understandably angry with the ENT specialist here in Dover who dismissed me without a thorough check. Had we caught it 5 months ago, a much smaller portion of the tongue would have been removed, my speech would have been less affected, and the lymphnodes would not have had to be checked. I intend to write a strong letter to him so that maybe he will treat his next patient differently.

I will let you know when my surgery is scheduled and will inform you of the outcome. I won't be able to talk for a while, and I'm sure Vince will get tired of answering the phone (It has already been ringing off the hook) so I ask that you keep in touch through personal notes via e-mail.

I am very lucky that we have caught this in time, and I know with your prayers that I will be just fine. I am blessed with such dear friends which is all the more evident at times like this.
